Restaurante Luisa

Condado, PR

Rebuilding after hurricane María hit Puerto Rico in 2017 inspired us to take the project. This restaurant was a completely new commercial space, but our goal was to make the future patrons return and feel at home.

This restaurant was a completely new commercial space, but our goal was to make the future patrons return and feel at home.

The main inspiration behind this hospitality new construction project was the owners, who are of Spanish origins and have been based in Puerto Rico for the last 40 years. There is a very large influence inspired by Spain mixed with the tropical beauty that characterized the island.

The bird-printed fabrics, the wooden ceiling, and the lamps are very important. The white brick was installed vertically to give the traditional brick to give it a contemporary language. I saw it a lot in Madrid, it was like ceramics, clay.

The experience of dining at Restaurant Luisa changes depending on where you sit. If you visit frequently and sit in different places, you will be transported to a new sensorial setting each time. Among the lamps, the haystacks, plants.

The bar seating is unique in that it has 2 lounges, for those who want to feel in a more private space, sit comfortably, while still being at the bar.

What I love the most about the final result is seeing the restaurant vibrant with many visitors; everyone wants to be there. Every patron has something to say, whether it is that they loved the experience, the space or the food.
